Taddinam Puja should be performed every year on the tithi of death of the individual (not on the date as per the English calendar). If the tithi is not known and only the month is known, then the Shradh / Taddinam can be performed on the Amavasya of that month. Annual Shradh vidhi and Shradh performed in Pitrupaksha for the sake of Pithrus.
Taddinam Puja holds a lot of significance as per Hindu beliefs. Hindu scriptures like the Agni Puran, Garuda Puran and Vayu Puran have explained the significance of “Shradh” in great length. Taddinam Puja is believed that the God of Death Yama himself explained the importance of Shradh performed on Pitri Paksha. The performance of Shraddha by a son during Pitru Paksha is regarded as compulsory by Hindus, to ensure that the soul of the ancestor goes to heaven.
