What is Shastipoorthi?
As per Hindu Tradition, at the age of 60 a specific person will complete and reached to the same year when he was born. Especially on that scenario, Meaningful and elaborate rituals should perform to remove the Apamruthyu those ritual is called Ugra Ratha Shanthi. Kalasha Sthapana & Havan Pujas are the main rituals in Sashtipoorthi Puja.
Sashtipoorthi is celebrated on the completion of 60 years of age for the male. The word Sashtipoorthi comes from Sanskrit which Sashti means sixty, and Poorthi means completion. Its line of completion half the years of one’s lifetime as in Hinduism, 120 years is considered as the life span of an human being. The 61st year in one’s life is a significant milestone,and most memorable turning point. Where as Hindu Calendar has 60 years named as Prabhava and Vibhava etc., it repeats themselves after the completion of 60 years in a sequence.
