Punyavachanam is the pooja done when the child takes birth. This pooja is done for the purification of the house and for the well being of child. The child is named after performing this Punyavachanam pooja. Punyavachanam is also done when the death of a family member to enable of a person to gain Moksha.

Punyavachanam ceremony invoke the Lord of water and celestial ocean, Varuna Deva offers prayer through 16 steps (Shodasa Upachara) in a PurnaKumbha. This is arise by the chanting of Pavana Mantra. After finishing Punyahavachanam pooja the holy water is sprinkled entire home to purify it and safe guard from the evil forces.

It was a nice experience. Pandit ji was patient enough and did the Pooja as per rituals. Hymns were exactly the same and he explained too, what was being done or prayers offered. Only difference i observed was here in north l, they do not use gau mutra throughout the puja neither add it to the panchagavya which is a must in south India during this pooja. Price was just as per the website and paid through the website. No extra or hidden charges. Pandit brings some essential items like ‘kalava’ (raksha sutra – red colored thread), ‘durva’ grass fruits included banana robusta, flowers included marigold and some button flowers. Rest everything you will have to arrange yourself (not a big deal). Decent service.
